As a certified beauty snob, I’ve bought and tried it all. Price is a factor, natch, but when presented with a game changer, I’m all for it.
However, when a product is inexpensive and delivers I’m ALL OVER IT. Case in point: Thayers Rose Petal Facial Toner (and mist), $10.95 SRP. This alcohol-free formula tones and soothes my sensitive skin. I’ve been on a years-long battle with cystic acne and rely on calming products (and a crazy diet) to keep my skin supple and smooth. The aloe vera and purified water ensure this, while the witch hazel goes to work on the craters forming on my nose. Seriously, a spritz or ten of the mist serves as a PM punch to keep my on my toes and in my home-office when I’d much rather curl up in bed catching up on my Housewives or stress-reading about politics.
Since So Very is green beauty focused, I would like to address the elephant in the room – preservatives, in this case phenoxyethanol. Developing non-toxic products is a tough row to how. Per Thayers’ website, “the preservative is present in our formula at less than 1%.” This, coupled with it being paraben, phthalate, and gluten-free, works for me. If you’re sensitive to rose or citrus, this product may irritate your skin. For me, it’s been a treat.
